A Houdini RBD (Rigid Body Dynamics) destruction simulation — a marble Batman statue shattered by an animated character, with full debris scatter and smoke.
The statue was fractured using Voronoi shatter in Houdini with constraint networks controlling the break propagation — so the structure holds until impact force exceeds threshold, then collapses progressively rather than all at once. The cape geometry required cloth-aware fracturing to avoid interpenetration during the sim.
Debris scatter and dust/smoke were handled as a secondary simulation pass, with particles inheriting velocity from the RBD pieces. The whole sequence was rendered in Redshift with dynamic lighting reacting to the destruction, composited in After Effects.
